handcrafted ghee,* orange peel,* ginger,* raw local honey, ceylon cinnamon,* clove* (*organic)
:: with ingredients known to support: digestive fire, wintertime resilience, the gut’s microbiome, the breath ::
This blend was formulated with the magical season of winter in mind, as it supports the body’s generation and maintenance of warmth while also being internally moisturizing, thanks to the properties of ghee. The flavor profile features a gentle bitterness and bright, citrusy flavor from the orange peel, a good dose of spicy heat from the ginger, cinnamon and clove – all rounded out with the pure sweetness of raw local honey. Orange peel is a wonderful immuno-supportive ally, as the concentration of the fruit’s vitamins (as well as flavonoids and other nutrients) is highest in the peel! It's a timeless TCM remedy to aid digestion and support immunity, enlisted quite similarly in Ayurveda. Recently, orange peel has also been the subject of research indicating it can assist in improving the robustness of the gut’s microbiome, which affects our overall sense of well-being. As for respiratory health, orange peel has expectorant properties, helping to clear phlegm from the airways and helping to relieve congestion, supporting the flow of breath (another way it is called upon in Ayurveda). Clove, an ancient remedy in both TCM and Ayurveda as well, is likewise a traditional ally for digestion and respiratory health as an herb with immune-stimulating, expectorant, and antimicrobial properties. Ginger also feeds our digestive fire, which helps us to optimally digest food and absorb the nutrients therein, while additionally helping to circulate heat. Ceylon cinnamon is true cinnamon – holding a tonifying quality and boasting many more healing properties than other varieties. Another pungent herb, it also helps to move energy along, has a purifying energy, and an affinity for the stomach + lungs. Raw honey is one of our greatest gifts, rich in antioxidants + supportive to the immune system, and ours is sourced locally from beekeepers with sustainable practices.
Try it on toast, blended into your coffee/hot tonic, as frosting, or simply enjoy by the spoon!
