Featuring mostly plant allies with a strong affinity to the sacral + heart chakras, this blend was formulated as an ally during womens' sacred moon time, helping to soothe cramps, connect to our heart centers, and move things along in the inner realms. Kava kava is a consciousness-shifting root long-revered in many island cultures of the Pacific, where it is historically + currently alchemized into a drink imbibed for ceremonial purposes (even for conflict resolution!) ✦ The root is traditionally prepared by chewing and then mixing with coconut cream/milk (i.e. healthy fat activation!) and elicits a superficial numbing sensation, bringing a sense of calm to frazzled nerves, allowing us to sink into a restorative place, and even activating a delta brain wave state.
With a flavor profile similar to gingerbread, it's sweet + warming with an easygoing earthy note :: try it on toast, blended into your coffee/hot chocolate, as frosting, or simply enjoy by the spoon!
DOSE: start with 1 teaspoon and increase to 1 tablespoon on an as-needed basis. For most people, kava can be relaxing without causing sedation. Please observe its effects on you before driving or operating heavy machinery, as every*body is different! It is not recommended to consume daily for longer than 3 weeks at a time.
Warnings: can cause liver damage in high and frequent doses. Not for use during pregnancy or lactation. Not for use in individuals with a compromised liver or liver disease. Do not take kava with alcohol. Consult with a healthcare provider prior to use if taking any prescription medications. Honey should never be given to babies under one year old.
Shelf life: consume within 3 months of opening and store in a cool, dark area; refrigeration is not necessary but does extend the expiration date by 3 months!
Allergen information: Contains dairy. However, the traditional process of making ghee (extra clarified butter) entails heating butter so that the milk solids (lactose + casein) are not just separated, but caramelized and removed. Many people who are otherwise dairy-free find solace in ghee.
